Armagh 22.09.07 - By Christine G
Ronan was amazing in Armagh, looking charmingly rustic and alluring, wearing his recently fashioned beard. "Turn It On" was the opening song and now has the status of the welcoming anthem at Ronan's festivals. Ronan looked smart and sophisticated wearing a black fitted waistcoat with a crisp white shirt, black tie and black tailored jeans.
Ronan sang four songs off the "Bring you Home" album; the enchantingly beautiful "All Over Again", the richly vibrant "Friends In Time" and the rocky "It's So Easy Lovin You", but as always he totally beguiled the audience with his moving and captivating performance of the now legendary "Superman".
The luck of the Irish was with us all and Ronan as the weather was crisp and cold yet sunny and for once Ronan performed "Summer Outside" without a deluge of rain. Ronan sang "Baby Can I Hold You Tonight" with such gentleness and tenderness he encouraged the whole audience to echo back the lyrics with a tear in their eyes.
When the opening chords of "The Way You Make Me Feel" rang out the audience must have thought; will he, wont he come down into the crowd, as there didn't appear to be any steps from the stage - we needn't have worried, as Ronan slipped off backstage to make his way to the front, he didn't disappoint us, and treated people on the front row to a handshake or two (lovely).
Nice to see Jack and Marie and friends on stage dancing in a "ring a roses" style to "I Hope You Dance" with Ronan.
The atmosphere was warm and affectionate to Ronan, as always, and the night came all too quickly to an end. The finale of "Lovin Each Day" and "Rollercoaster" raised the excitement level to fever pitch, Lovin Each Day getting everyone hyped-up and Rollercoaster catapulting the audience into a whirlwind of excitement. All too quickly we had reached the last song of the night; "The Long Goodbye" and as Ronan softly sang; "I guess I'm coming back to Armagh", we all held that lovely thought.
