Wembley Arena 12.04.03 - By Cindy
The 12th of April Ronan did a concert at the Wembley Arena in London and I was there.
Before the show we waited outside at the backstage entrance for some time. At some point Calum came to us to sign some autographs. He had brought his wife and kids. (I counted 5 of them. Don’t know if they are all his. But one of the boys did really look like him, so that was his for sure.) Later Janet came out too and she also brought her child with her. But no sign of Ronan. We decided to get back to the hotel to change our clothes. Back at Wembley we found out that Ronan was still not there and at 7 we decided to leave the backstage entrance and go to the front to eat something and go inside.
At first we bought the tour program. That was not healthy to do. This program was missing a warning. Not for people with weak hearts and pregnant women. * lol * it is just too hot to handle. Be warned when you buy it!
When we came close to our seats we found out we had the perfect seats! We were in row 10 but at the end. So we were very near the catwalk! (Row 11 is the one which is going from side to side and is at the top of the catwalk.)
Helen Boulding was already singing. She was ok, but I think Wonderwall from the European tour was better. After her it was time for some blink TV. Seeing Ronan's new video was so great!
Then finally the lights went out and it was time to begin. The beginning was very nice. Everybody coming on stage one by one and with beautiful lights. Then Ronan came on too. He started with Come Be My Baby. Really great because I missed that one on the European tour. He lightened up the whole arena with just coming on stage. He was so full of life and energy!
Ronan was looking really great. The shirt was really showing his muscles and I liked that! I even like the new tattoo. Then he sang Love Won't Work (If We Don't Try). Followed by The Way You Make Me Feel.
Then it was time for a cover. Drops of Jupiter. I loved the original song by Train already and now it became even better. Ronan said the song helped him through a difficult period in his life. But I missed a lot of this song, thanks to the security. We had to get back to our seats. The problem was we only did a few steps to the side. But there were more people coming from the back and standing with us. So the security was telling them to get back.
Then came Addicted. And of course he came down to shake hands. I saw him from up close, but wasn’t lucky to get his hand this time. Blown Away is always a good song.
We've Got Tonight he did of course with Janet. I think she is the most brilliant of the people who he sings this song with him. They were really enjoying the duet. By the way Janet did search contact with somebody at the front row during the concert all the time. I think her child was sitting there.
Time For Love is always a lovely song. Then he explained he would sing This Is Your Song. That he wrote that for his mum. He wasn’t able to sing it before. But now he could handle it and sing it for us. He talked about his walk in Ireland and then when he walked back to the main stage to sing the song I saw that he flickered with his eyes. Like he was holding back some tears, because of his mum.
It was lovely how Ronan and the band sat down on the stairs and sing this song together. They stayed there also singing When You Say Nothing At All.
Then he introduced his new song. He already told us earlier that this show was a bit of the past (the Ronan album) the present (Destination) and the future. He would sing us some new songs. And now he did. I'm On My Way it is called and I loved it! It was very easy to sing it along with him. And when this is a promise for the next album I know I love that! He wrote it with Calum in Birmingham he said. They both were standing at the front of the catwalk singing this song.
My One Thing That's Real was good as always.
Then he did I Love It When We Do. Of course with the twist of his butt in it. It is still a lovely move to do and to see. * lol *
In This Life was fantastic, because he played his guitar. And he did it very well I have to say. Before he started this song he introduced the band to us. Starting with Janet, because women go first. At the end he even introduced himself with and I am Ronan Keating.
Then came Lovin' Each Day. OMG I will never hear this song again without thinking of his moves. We talked about it all weekend. At some point he sing I need you here. First time he pointed at his lips when he sung that. Second time he put his hand on his heart and the third time he sung it and he put his hand at his crotch. We went wild of course. Not only we, I think almost everybody at Wembley.
With Life Is A Rollercoaster we danced along like crazy and he noticed us again. I think because we were the only ones dancing that much.
Then he disappeared and came back at the back of the arena. There he sang Pump It Up. That is really a good cover to choose. Very funny to hear Ronan do some rap. (Or almost then) Have to say it sounds very good. Very good song to move on.
He had different clothes on. A lovely jacket.
When he flew back on this wonder wheel he sang The Long Goodbye. He flew almost over my head.
Then it was sadly enough, time for the last song. If Tomorrow Never Comes. I very special song to me. It reached my heart when he sang it, but then again he reached that during the whole concert.
Then he really had to go. And it was over.
I have to say the concert was really fantastic. Ronan was really enjoying himself on stage and so were we. Especially with ‘I need you here!” This was the best concert from Ronan I have ever been to.
It is sad we have to wait till next year for another tour. Because he said he was going to walk in Ireland and after that he would work on his new album. He thought a new single for Christmas or early next year.
We had a great night at the hotel with all the other fans and the next day we had a great day sightseeing London while waiting for our photos to become ready. And wow! I have some great ones. That afternoon I went back to the airport and flew home. It was definitely worth it and I certainly will do it again next tour.
Thanks Ronan for the great weekend. And thanks all the others who I met and made it a great weekend too.
